An initial 4 byte integer indicates the number of edges in the file.
Edge data is stored in binary format as quadruples of floats
(row, column, contrast and orientation) in raster order.
Row and column are sub-pixel locations of the edge with the centre of
a pixel defined at (x+0.5,y+0.5). The edge data structure can be used for
generic representation of well located image features. Orientation and
contrast measures are feature dependant.
